my Lorax moment…

Fan groups seemed to have evolved in ways that became little ” tribes ” , like
” dead heads”, “phish heads”, “parrot heads” then the rest lumped into a “hippie” category or punk, metal, country, r&b,etc. I never felt those labels fit for me.
for years I’ve been called a hippie, a deadhead, gypsy, etc there was even a label of ” Earth people” lol i guess that was a more conventional way of using the word hippie.

I always thought the “nomad” term was pretty cool but it still didn’t explain why I am so engulfed in the music experience. on St Patrick’s day 2023 this came through the looking glass and this resonated with me so much that I felt compelled to put it out there.

for me being That 19-year-old kid who was standing against all odds, ridicule, Hippie Jokes, deadhead jokes, even Jesus jokes ( based on my Appearance) etc., I still went for it !

for me this journey was like getting on a skateboard , pushing off with that one foot until you could ride and then eventually you got to ride a little more without your using your feet to the ground. Then I would hit that bump in the road and the only way to rebound from that bump in the road for me was a complete stop and start going to work a mainstream job.

With the right education one could stay within the music scene of their choice. My education was basically just trying to live the life I loved.

when I discovered a band called The Grateful Dead, I felt such a part of that music, I just hit the road never looking back.

I followed my music nomad life for over a decade, then another decade in music festivals. working at festivals was my great devotion to what had given me a feeling of belonging , family, and purpose. I knew one thing for sure, that someone there would absolutely be having the best time of their life! Any job you do in any society is helping each other on our journeys to our own self-discovery !

Go see the beauty that surrounds you, be you in all ways possible and do what your kind heart desires!

for me that’s the American dream and with this strange connection to music and a love of travel ,for me, it’s my American Music Nomad dream!
